He entreated the leadership of the various parties to campaign based on the programmes and policies they intended to role out to develop the country should the electorate give them the mandate.

Mr Amissah-Arthur was speaking at a durbar of chiefs and people of Abeadze Dominase in the Mfantsiman District in the Central Region to celebrate the Ahobaa Kesse festival last Saturday.

The occasion, which was also used to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the installation of the Paramount Chief of the Abeadzeman Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, was on the theme “Consolidating 20 years of Traditional Leadership.”

Election

The Vice-President further urged the electorate to elect people with strength of character and vision to develop the country for which reason he called for a proper assessment and scrutiny of campaign messages of the political parties to make an informed choice.

Extolling the leadership qualities of Daasebre Ewusi VII that had contributed to the development of the traditional area, Mr Amissah-Arthur said good leadership qualities required selflessness, humility and perseverance as exhibited by the traditional ruler. He commended the chief for helping to raise the profile of the area with respect to promotion of peace and stability in the traditional area.

Mr Amissah-Arthur advised the people not to consider the festival as an opportunity for merry-making but should also use the occasion to take stock of the past and chart a path for the future development of the area.

The Vice-President later inaugurated the Abeadze Dominase Community Centre and a classroom block for the Abeadze State College.

The Central Regional Minister, Mr Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, congratulated Daasebre on his exemplary leadership in the last 20 years which he noted had placed Ahobaa Kesse on the national calendar  and urged the people to reflect on the theme and unite for accelerated development of the area.
