The Minister for Agriculture, Mr Fifi Kwetey, has stated that boasting about academic success is vanity.

He made this comment in an interview over the weekend after the Founding President and CEO of IMANI Ghana, Mr Franklin Cudjoe, said the Minister could not compete with him in terms of achievement.

Explaining why he came  to refer to Franklin’s struggle to pass Economics at the A’ Level, a subject he Fifi said he passed with  ‘A’ at Lower 6,  Fifi Kwetey said that comment was made as an aside in his reply to comments  the IMANI boss made about him on Accra-based  Citi FM.

According to him, Franklin Cudjoe had claimed on Citi FM’s weekend ‘Big Issues’ programme that Fifi owes his current position to propaganda.

Fifi kwetey said: ‘’His comments implied I had no qualification to be where I am, so when I was asked about it during the ‘’Alhaji and Alhaji’’ programme on Radio Gold, I said the true measure of a man is not the Grade he obtains in school but had passion for his country and commitment to giving his all to lift his community, so I place no pride on academic qualification.”’

He said he then added that he had heard that the very person who was deriding him, Franklin Cudjoe, had struggled to pass his ‘A’ Level Economics Paper, while he (who was being derided) passed his exams with ease, obtaining Grade A even though he wrote the exams at Lower 6.

‘’But these are not the things I placed my pride on, only people with limitation boast about their academic laurels,’ if there is anything I want to boast of then it is that I have God’, he added.
