‘Akwena Mawu’ appeals to Prez Akufo-Addo

A group sympathetic to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region has made a passionate appeal to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government to maintain Ewes working in public institutions.

In an interview, the National Coordinator of the group known as Akwena Mawu, which literally means ‘We thank God’, Mr Koblah Mensah, said: "I am not engaging in tribal politics but our good President  should consider that the Volta Region is not blessed with much natural resources as other regions so any Voltarian in high public position has many people and families that depend on him or her, so any attempt to fire him or her has the tendency to affect many."

Father for all

Mr Mensah, therefore, appealed to the President to practise his "father for all politics" by maintaining Ewes working in different capacities in the energy sector, government ministries and other public institutions to enhance the NPP's campaign project of getting 40 per cent of votes in the Volta Region in the next general election.

The national coordinator called on Ghanaians to show appreciation to Almighty Allah for the success story of the NPP in the Volta Region and  added that the future would be better if President Akufo-Addo, the man he describes as ‘’care for all father’’,  listens to his plea.

Mr Mensah, who hails from  Agbozome Klikor, used the opportunity to further appeal to the NPP administration to extend unity and love to political opponents, saying: ''Some things will sometimes go wrong,''  and the party should move forward with its promise of making Ghana a better place.

He revealed that the Akwena Mawu group aimed at bringing Voltarians closer to the NPP and wiping out the long-held notion that the ruling party was anti-Voltarians or anti-Ewe.
