ABA Fuseini launches re-election bid

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu and Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, has launched his re-election campaign bid for the Sagnarigu Constituency in the Northern Region as the electioneering heats up across the country.

Alhaji Fuseini, who is the National Democratic Congress (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Sagnarigu in the December 7, 2016  parliamentary poll launched his campaign at the Tamale Polytechnic Park last Saturday, and stated he would retain the seat and represent the people of Sagnarigu in the next Parliament.

The Sagnarigu Constituency was created in the 2012 general election out of the Tamale North Constituency. Alhaji Fuseini won it the first time and hopes to retain the seat in the forthcoming election in spite of the stiff opposition from the Convention People’s Party (CPP) parliamentary candidate, Madam Issah Zelia, and the disaffection among some party supporters in the constituency after the party’s primary that elected him in November last year.

‘Skirt and Blouse”

His fiercest and bitterest rival in the party’s primary in November last year, Alhaji Mohammed Amin Adam, who is also the Northern Regional Youth Organiser of the NDC (affectionately called Alhaji Abio) mounted the platform at the campaign launch to announce publicly for the first time that he had nothing against Alhaji Fuseini and urged his supporters to vote massively for the deputy minister to retain the seat for the party.

Alhaji Adam also appealed to party members in the constituency who had threatened to vote “skirt and blouse” in the constituency to rescind their decision and vote for him.

Second Chance

Alhaji Fuseini reiterated the call on the people of Sagnarigu and party supporters who had vowed not to vote for him to rescind their decision and vote for him.

He urged the people to give him the nod for the second time to go and represent them once again in Parliament and also to vote for President Mahama to continue his good work.

Addressing a large crowd of party supporters to launch the re-election bid for Alhaji Fuseini, Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Saed Sinare, urged the people not to vote “skirt and blouse’” as they had threatened but to give the deputy minister the second chance to represent them in Parliament and also  vote massively for President Mahama.

He said it would not be in the interest of the party for them not to vote for Alhaji Fuseini and only vote for President Mahama, saying that this would affect their representation in Parliament and also deny the party the majority status in Parliament.

Launching

The campaign launch was spiced with music from some local hip-life artistes, popular among which was “Wunpini,” a song in Dagbani that literally translates as “ God’s Gift” by Don Sigli, with the large crowd of party supporters singing along and dancing.
