The ward and theatre were constructed and equipped at a cost of GH¢800,000 and were made possible by Very Rev. Father Andrew Campbell, the Parish Priest of the Christ the King Catholic Church in Accra.

Other projects being executed for the clinic are Outpatient department, a maternity block and a laboratory.

The inauguration of the new clinic marked the Golden Jubilee anniversary of Father Campbell in his vocation as a Catholic priest.

Speaking at the inauguration, the wife of the Vice-President, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, urged Ghanaians to commit themselves to the development of the country.

She said commitment, discipline, truth and hard work were necessary in ensuring that the country’s development efforts were sustained.

“We should strive to develop the nation in all facets because if we do not, the country will be doomed,” she said.

Quality health care

Rev. Campbell said he was motivated to come up with an idea of a clinic because of a desire to see people in rural areas get access to quality healthcare.

He said it was pertinent that as individuals, companies or groups, “we all contributed our quota to the development of the country.”

He said instead of always blaming the government for the lack of certain amenities, every Ghanaian must consider what they could contribute to move the country forward.

“Let us remember the adage that says little drops of water makes a mighty ocean,” he said.

He expressed his gratitude to corporate bodies and individuals whose contributions led to the completion of the clinic.

Rev. Father Campbell appealed to the chiefs and people of Kordiabe to protect the facility and ensure that lands surrounding it were not encroached upon.

Presentation

Rev. Father Campbell presented an undisclosed amount of money to three people Flight Lieutenant Nii Tackey, Mr Kwaku Odai, and Mr Joe Baah whose services led to the timely completion of the building.

He also lauded the initiative of Dalex Finance for supporting the project with GH¢500,000.

Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, in collaboration with the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital, donated items such as syringes, needles, thermometers to the clinic in order for a smooth take off.
