Family of octogenarian donates to Atua Hospital

As part of activities marking the 80th birthday of a philanthropist and  businessman, Mr Sas George, his family has donated assorted items to the Female Ward of the Atua Government Hospital in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality in the Eastern Region.

The ward was adopted and refurbished by Mr George six years ago.

The philanthropist, who is also an entrepreneur, had earlier provided a 10,000 litre poly-tank to the ward. He periodically supports the ward with materials to facilitate the treatment of patients.

Mr George, who presented the items to the management of the hospital on behalf of his children, said he believed in sharing with the less privileged, hence his decision to adopt the ward, adding, “This must be a lesson to all, especially Krobos, on the need to share when they have the means.’’

“I discipline myself and my home and that has brought me this far. I don’t do what I am not supposed to do and I also exercise regularly,’’ he emphasised.

Selflessness

Two of Mr George’s children, Mr Ferdinand George and Mrs Linda Adadevoh, described their octogenarian father, who is also the President of the Association of Shareholders on the Ghana Stock Market and native of Odumase Krobo, as a selfless person who is interested in supporting the under-privileged.

“This is part of the legacy he is bestowing on us his children and we promise to take up the mantle,’’ Ferdinand said.

According to Mrs Adadevoh, but for the celebration of their father’s birthday, they were not aware of such a laudable initiative.

Appreciation

The Deputy Director of Nursing Services at the hospital, Mrs Marylove Nai-Williams, who received the items on behalf of management, expressed appreciation to the benefactors for the kind gesture.

She described Mr George as a committed patron of the hospital and was happy that his children were also pursuing that worthy cause.
