Zonta calls for support to advance cause of women
Zonta International has called on Corporate Ghana and other entities to support the organisation to advance the cause of women in the country.

The District 18 Governor of Zonta International, Madam Anne-Marie French Cudjoe, who made the call at a press launch in Accra, said the organisation continued to contribute positively to the well-being of women and children across the globe.

According to her, Zonta took great interest in issues on human rights, with emphasis on females.
She added that Zonta monitored the operationalisation of laws and policies on women to ensure that they were not taken for granted.
She said as part of her outfit’s contribution to gender issues, it launched a campaign to raise awareness of and also increase advocacy actions to end violence against women and girls around the world.
“Zonda International not only advocates for women’s human rights and gender equality in all facets of life but also partners United Nations agencies to financially support projects to empower women and girls to understand their rights and enhance their potentials,” she stated.
Madam Cudjoe indicated that the organisation was also engaged in programmes such as health, education, economic empowerment and human trafficking.
Challenge
For her part, the Conference Chairperson, Madam Opeibea Omaboe, said a major challenge facing the organisation was inadequate membership.
She observed that when more people joined the organisation, it could expand its funding base to embark on more projects to bring change in the lives of people.
“Membership has been a major challenge to us,” she stated.
Madam Omaboe said the organisation worked with like-minded establishments on gender-related issues and urged stakeholders to join the organisation to contribute towards the accelerated development of the country.
Zonta International is a non-governmental organisation with membership of about 30,000 professionals engaged in empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.
