Youth assembly held at Abura Dunkwa

A Youth health advocacy assembly has been organised for children at Abura Dunkwa in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) District in the Central Region to discuss issues affecting their well-being.

The programme was organised by the National Youth Authority (NYA) with support from the Central Regional Coordinating Council with funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Attended by chiefs of the area, members of the security agencies and the district assembly, as well as parents and guardians, the forum was to give opportunity to the youth to discuss issues affecting them, and to bring such issues before the relevant authorities for redress.

According to data from the district directorate of health services, 17 children between the ages of 10 and 14 got pregnant in the district last year, and the figure showed an increase of seven cases more than the 10 recorded in 2014.
