Youth advised to stick to Christian principles for success

The Deputy Supreme Knight of the Knights of Marshall, Worthy Brother Ambrose Yennah, has advised young people aspiring to leadership positions to stay away from negative attitudes and stick to Christian principles.

According to him, Christian principles required leaders to be servants, committed to duty, submissive and seeking God’s guidance through prayer.

“The best form of leadership is the ability to draw the best out of other people and inspire them to maximise their potential.

“Those who aspire to lead must therefore be servants of all and have the ability to create teams, because your ability to delegate power and empower people is the singular and most important measure of your success as a leader,” he added.

Speaking at the Greater Accra Junior Order officers’ forum on the topic; “Leadership: the role of the Marshallan youth” last Sunday, Worthy Bro. Yennah urged the junior knights and ladies of Marshall to develop a positive mindset and also change from undesirable habits.

Negative attitudes

According to him, effective leadership ought to be anchored on team work, adding that; “Effective teams help to achieve both group and individual goals.”

Worthy Bro. Yennah observed that, social vices such as drug abuse, indecent dressing, watching of pornographic films, sexual promiscuity and cybercrime were major threats to the development of the youth.

He, therefore, urged the young Marshallans and the youth in general to adhere to biblical principles in order to overcome those challenges.

“You are ambassadors of Christ, so your lives ought to be a sermon for others. The Bible enjoins us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. So as young people, you need to put on what God has given you, so that you can influence others positively,” he added.

‘Be steadfast’

He further stated that leadership is associated with lots of challenges and sacrifices, stressing that young leaders ought to have the right mental fortitude to excel.

The Deputy Supreme Knight also asked young people to go through mentorship sessions in order to acquire effective planning, organisation and management skills.

Worthy Bro. Yennah underscored the need for the youth to be focused on the future and stay away from tendencies such as “illegal migration, human trafficking, sex trade, money laundering and other crimes in order not to ruin your lives.

“When you stick with Godly principles and act with responsibility, you will be free from these crimes,” he advised.
