“This institution has come far. It behoves each and everyone to redouble their effort and push the enviable records of the institution to higher heights. It should always be recognised that it is in this institution that our bread is buttered,” he said.

He said the new status would require a rededication and commitment from the staff to ensure that the aims and vision of the university were achieved.

He explained that the new status of university demanded a crop of human resource that was loyal and dedicated to drive the vision and mission of the university.

“Let us consistently make frantic efforts to grow and sustain positive attitudes. This should reflect in every facet of our work, from time consciousness through creativity and innovation to teamwork among others,” he stated.

End-of-year awards

Prof. Nsowah-Nuamah, who was speaking at the second end-of-year get-together of the university, further asked the staff not to relent in their efforts but to continue to give their best as “our future as a university is in our hands. We can choose to make or unmake it”.

The Vice Chancellor whose term of office came to end in November this year thanked the staff for the support extended him during his tenure which ensured that he achieved most of his targets.

He asked them to extend the same support to his successor, who he said “is one of our own and as such should enjoy same support from you”.

He said he was leaving the institution a satisfied man as “even if for nothing at all, we have been able to gain university status. For this alone, I am happy.”

Some deserving staff members were rewarded for their performance over the year with Mr Antwi Adjei Manu emerging as the overall best worker for the year.

The School of Business of the university was also adjudged the best faculty of the university.
