The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr John Alexander Ackon, has cut the sod to commence construction works from Asuoho Ankaase to its adjoining communities in the Bosome Freho District in the Ashanti Region.

Assisted by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosome Freho, Mr Kwame Adarkwa, the regional minister said the government was committed to improving the living conditions of the people and that road construction was one of them.

He told the people that the days of travelling on the rough road were over, as the right time had come for them to also enjoy a reshaped and tarred road.

The minister called on nananom and the people in the area to support the assembly to ensure efficient delivery of the project.

Some of the communities are situated in the Bosomtwe District while the rest are in the Bekwai Municipality.

Last year, the Chief of the community, Nana Atakora Bonsra, through his personal resources, arranged for a grader to help reshape the 5km road from Ankaase to Amakom.

This benefited communities such as Duase, Dompa, Tumiabu and Mmorontuor around the lake.

That intervention had saved many a vehicle that used the road from further damages, especially during the rainy season.

Pledge of support

The Ankaasehene, Nana Atakora Bonsra, who doubles as the Koakohene of Kokofuhene, on behalf of nananom in the area, pledged support for the construction works.

He asked the assembly to be diligent in supervising the work for its timely completion.

He noted that Ankaase and its adjoining communities were food baskets where foodstuffs and vegetables were transported almost every day to the cities to support the commercial activities of the people.

He also commended the government for the giant step in making sure that the road was being made accessible.
