This year’s Women’s Lifestyle Expo Ghana has been held at Alliance Française in Accra.

The annual event is an exhibition and sales platform that offers opportunities for female business owners and entrepreneurs to showcase their products to the public.

The two-day event also offered consumers the opportunity to purchase variety of products from the exhibitors.

It also brought together some women associations from corporate institutions, groups and societies to interact with the exhibitors and explore mutually beneficial opportunities.

Categories of exhibitors

The exhibitors included fashion designers, jewellers, web designers, household accessories sellers, health service providers and home cleaning service providers.

In an interview with The Mirror, the Event Director of the expo, Nana Adwoa Kwegyir-Aggrey, said the objective was to organise the programme for women because a lot of fairs and Expos did not focus much on women.

“There are so many fairs and exhibitions that are held each time, but this is specifically targeted at women. That is what inspired us to embark on this project

“The Expo creates the platform for businesses and individuals who market women’s products to have informal interactions with the general public,” she said.

Outcome

Even though Ms Kwegyir-Aggrey admitted that there had been challenges along the line since the event started three years ago, she emphasised that it had offered a lot of opportunities for emerging brands “to make their products more visible.”

“This is a good platform that all business owners, especially women, must take advantage of to achieve maximum impact,” she said.

Some of the exhibitors who spoke to The Mirror expressed optimism about the positive impact the show has had on their business.

The Chief Executive Officer of St Tito Clothing, dealers in African wears, Nii Laryea Korley, said the show had impacted his business since he started participating.

Nii Korley also stated that Ghanaians were now showing much interest in African wear, adding that the trend could increase if a lot of campaign was made on the made-in-Ghana products.
