The names of the deceased have been given as Doris Tetteh, the health worker and Mary Addo,  the housekeeper.

The 30-year-old son of Doris, identified as Michael Agyare, has been arrested on suspicion that he was the brain behind the murder.

The Suhum Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Muchiraru Yahaya, who confirmed the incident to The Mirror, said investigations were underway.

Ms Tetteh was noted for reporting to work at the hospital early, and so when at 11:00 a.m. last Monday, she was not at work, her colleagues went looking for her.

They called her several times on her telephone, but there was no response.

They went to her house and overheard her mobile phone ringing in her room. When they peeped through the window, they saw many things in the room had been scattered.

They forced the door open, only to find Doris and her househelp lying in a pool of blood with multiple cuts on their bodies.

According to the Suhum Adontenghene and the landlord of the deceased, Nana Kwadwo Dompreh, the matter was then reported to the police and Agyare was named as the prime suspect.

That was because, according to him, Agyare usually engaged in verbal and sometimes physical exchanges with his mother and always tagged her as a witch.

Nana Dompreh said he had severally advised that Agyare be sent away from the house but Doris always begged on his behalf.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital.
