Tawiah’s plea was not taken when he was presented to the court, presided over by Mr James Kojo Botah.

The prosecutor, Chief Inspector Yeboah, said Lawoe, a Quality Officer and Tawiah a welder, both resided at  Mamprobi.

Chief Inspector Yeboah told the court that on July 16, 2016, at about 8.00p.m a misunderstanding ensued between Lawoe  and Tawiah and they were separated by a witness in the case.

C/Inspector Yeboah said Tawiah then threatened to deal with Lawoe anytime he met him.

Lawoe left the scene in the company of the witness in the case, but unknown to them Tawiah was following them and engaged Lawoe in a fight.

Prosecutor Yeboah said the father of the complainant came out of the house and separated them.  After that, Tawiah rushed into a wooden kiosk of the witness and took her kitchen knife, run back to Lawoe, stabbed him in the throat and took to his heels.

The prosecutor said a report was made to the police and the complainant was sent to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment. He was admitted and discharged the next day.

Tawiah sensing danger also rushed to the police station to make a report but was arrested and detained for questioning.

C/Inspector Yeboah  said Tawiah admitted to the offence in his caution statement but denied stabbing the complainant with a knife, claiming it was rather an umbrella.

He told the court that the medical report revealed that Lawoe’s neck injury was a 10cm oblique laceration caused by a clean sharp edge.
