Jirapa: 'We need our monies' - Diamond Winners customers demonstrate

Customers of Diamond Winners, a micro finance company which operated in Upper West Region on similar lines as DKM, have massed up in Jirapa to demonstrate for equal treatment as the victims of the DKM scam.

More than 70 individuals assembled at the Jirapa market square with a brass band in attendance as they ginger up for a march through the streets.

Diamond winners, like DKM, operated an investment product that rewarded depositors with huge profit margins of up to 65 per cent over a three-month period.

The collapse of DKM, following a Bank of Ghana intervention in the middle of 2015, also brought the focus onto Diamond Winners and their operations, and the company was liquidated too apparently to salvage what remained of the investment of unsuspecting customers.

While customers of DKM, which has since become defunct, will begin to receive some fraction of their original investments following the liquidation of the company by the Bank of Ghana, customers of Diamond Winners say they have been overlooked by the system because they did not make the appropriate noises.

Indeed, customers of DKM are scheduled to begin receiving whatever fraction of their investments from Monday.
