Wapic Insurance supports school at Old Fadama

Wapic Insurance Ghana Limited has presented some educational materials to the Future First Academy, a basic school at Old Fadama in Accra.

The pupils in the school are mainly wards of head porters, popularly called “Kayayei”.

The items include dual desks, teachers’ tables and chairs, ceiling fans, white boards, benches and shelves.

The Managing Director of Wapic Insurance, Mr Adedayo Arowojolu, explained that the donation was to support the daily management of the school to ensure excellence in teaching and learning.

He said it also marked the beginning of a long relationship between the company and the school.

Mr Arowojolu underlined the importance of education to the development of the individual and community and, therefore, advised the pupils to take their studies seriously.

He also urged parents to ensure that their wards did not abandon their education but pursued their respective courses to the highest level.

Appreciation

The Project Coordinator of the school, Mr Jamal Issaka, who received the items, expressed appreciation to their benefactors.

“It is really heart-warming for us to have caught the attention of Wapic Insurance, considering the many institutions that exist and also require same support,” he stated.

Mr Issaka promised to put the items to judicious use to offer opportunities to the wards to enable them to give off their best.

Established about 10 years ago, the academy is the only school in the Old Fadama community and has a population of 215 pupils.
