WAHO presents 10 motorbikes to Health Ministry

The West African Health Organisation (WAHO) has donated 10 Suzuki motorbikes to the Ministry of Health. The two-stroke engine motorbikes, valued at GH¢160,000, are to be forwarded to the Mental Health and the Traditional Medicine Authorities.

Presenting the motorbikes, the Director General of WAHO, Dr Xavier Crespin, said the donation was in fulfilment of a promise he made during a courtesy call on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo last month.

Appreciation

A Deputy Minister of Health, Mr Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu, who received the motorbikes, expressed gratitude to WAHO for the support and urged other institutions to also support the ministry.

He said the Mental Health sector needed a lot of support, as it was difficult for it to generate any funds internally.

The deputy health minister later handed over the keys of the motorbikes to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Mental Health Authority, Dr Akwasi Osei.

Present at the ceremony were officials of WAHO, the Ministry of Health, the Mental Health Authority and the Traditional Medicine Authority.
