The club earlier donated variety of items, including four bags of maize, toilet rolls, sanitary pads and biscuits to the female ward of the Ho prisons.

Making the presentation at the prisons, the President of the queen’s club, Mamaga Ametor, said their gesture was in line with the principle of the club to share with the underprivileged and to restore hope to them.

To the police, she said it was a duty to support them in view of the challenges they faced when discharging services to the public.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) R.V Dedjoe thanked the club for their generosity.

He said other organisations had also donated to the police towards the completion of infrastructure at the regional headquarters, and called for more support.

For her part, the officer in charge of the Ho Female Prisons, Chief Superintendent Mrs Grace Allan-Gayinah, thanked the club for the gesture and appealed to society to come to the aid of the prisons.

The Catholic Priest of St Augustine Parish at Hohoe, Rev. Father Isaac Benuyenah, who was also present at the female prison to make a donation, asked the inmates not to despair because God was still interested in them.

He said they should keep their spirit afloat and stand up to shine, adding that the Lord would make them rise above their weaknesses.
