Vivo Energy organises clean-up at Atukpai

Vivo Energy Ghana (VEGH) last weekend organised a clean-up and health screening exercise at Atukpai in the Odododiodoo constituency in Accra to commemorate World Environment Day (WED) which fell on June 5.

It was organised as part of their corporate social responsibility to minimise diseases and contribute to the development of the community.

Residents of Atukpai came out in their numbers to clear choked gutters and clean the neighbourhood with workers of VEGH also taking part in the exercise.

The health adviser for VEGH, together with staff of the Total House Clinic, screened residents for blood pressure, heart-rate, weight, height, body mass index (BMI) and  fat index, among other conditions.

He stressed that the programme was undertaken to ensure their contribution to sustainable development of the country, noting that the company also took interest in road safety and education.

Donation

The company also made a donation of 20 waste bins, 10 wheelbarrows, 10 shovels, 10 rakes and 10 Wellington boots, among other items, to the community to ensure that they continued to maintain a clean environment.

She reiterated that the programme would encourage the community to become agents of change and active supporters of the environment to promote awareness of healthy environment.
