He said education was the best legacy parents could bequeath to their children, stressing that honouring that responsibility was  more relevant than spending their money on things which would not benefit their families.

Most Rev. Anokye was speaking at a ceremony to inaugurate the Vicini International Basic School at Darban near Akropong in the Atwima Nwabiagya District in the Ashanti Region.

Constructed at a cost of GH¢420,000, the school has six classrooms, an office, staff common room, 10 washrooms, a library, information and communications  technology (ICT) centre  and a dining hall.

Quality education

The institution, which started operations this academic year with eight pupils and two teachers, is being managed by the Daughters of Nazareth (SFN) Sisters to provide quality education and good moral training to the pupils.

Most Rev. Anokye urged heads and administrators of Catholic institutions in the country to continue to work hard to make their schools the first port of call for all parents as it used to be in the past, stressing that the good quality education and moral training offered by Catholic institutions in the country in the past made such institutions the obvious choice for all parents.

Commendation

He commended the chiefs in the area for providing the large tract of land to the church towards the construction of the school and pledged to ensure that everything possible would be done to give the community the best education it deserved.

He advised all and sundry to take the issue of education seriously by contributing their quota towards the development of holistic education in the country, indicating that would ensure that many unemployed people, especially the youth, would be economically empowered to fend for themselves, as well as their families.

The Headmistress of the Vicini International School, Rev. Sister Suja Alphonsa, appealed to the community to support management and staff of the school so that they would be able to offer their best to the children and the nation as a whole.
