He said current criminals were smart in coming up with new technologies to outwit existing technologies, hence the need for the police to be always ahead technologically.

He was speaking at the closing ceremony of a computer training programme for selected police officers in Accra last Tuesday.

Prof. Buor said “it is the wish of society that some other modern technologies be unearthed to assist in crime detection”.

He indicated that the use of appropriate IT-based technologies would reduce the risks to the lives of the security personnel who were professionally mandated to track down miscreants, social wreckers and criminals.

The Director-General in charge of Research, Planning and ICT of the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police (COP), Mr David Asante-Apeatu, was grateful to the sponsors and facilitators of the workshop.
