The deceased police officer was escorting some travellers on the Buipe–Kintampo highway when he was shot by a police patrol team that mistook him for an armed robber.

The Managing Director of Unique Insurance, Mr Victor Obeng-Adiyiah, presented the cheque to the Inspector General of Police, Mr David Asante-Appeatu.

Mr Obeng-Adiyiah expressed the company’s condolences to the family and the Police Service for the unfortunate incident.

He said the company “recognises the dangers the security agencies encounter in their line of duty and feel individuals and other corporate institutions have to join to protect the welfare of our security personnel.”

Mr Asante-Appeatu applauded the company for the donation and called on other corporate institutions to emulate the gesture.
