Led by Rev. Prof. Eric Nii Bortey Anum, Head of the Department of Religious and Human Values of the university and Rev. Dr Confidence Worlanyo Bansah also of the  same Department,  the students visited the holy sites and monuments of the MDCC.

They also learnt about the rich religious history of the church.

Stone of Courtesy

A significant aspect of the tour was at the ‘Stone of Courtesy,’ a monument erected between Gomoa Eshiem and Mozano.

It bears the inscription: “Mozano, Citadel of Seven has now become a place-of-refuge for thousands of God’s children of many lands.”

Briefing the students, Rev. Suma Jehu-Appiah, the tour facilitator and minister in charge of media of the church, said in spite of an ongoing 12-year litigation in the church, its headquarters remained a place of refuge for suffering humanity, where “the Lord pours health, peace and joy for many labouring under affliction."

Apart from this, he said, it was also a centre of learning and religious tourism.

Background

Mozano is situated in the Gomoa District of the Central Region, and currently has a population of about 2,300 people.

The population does not include all the students of the church’s School of Music and Cultural Studies and three senior high schools.

The third senior high school, a college of music, was established recently and offers programmes in General Arts, Business and Music.

It is a government-sponsored school and the only senior high school in the country with music bias.

The earlier established School of Music and Cultural Studies opened for older students, was founded in 1981 by Rev. H. K. Baah to train choirmasters and singing band teachers.

However, in 1985, it was taken over by the Ghana Education Service (GES) which run it as a Music Teacher Training College under the National Academy of Music (NAM) at Winneba.

After the absorption of NAM into the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), the school has maintained good relations with the music departments of the UEW and the University of Ghana for the conduct of examinations for its students.

Juvenile club

At Mozano, there is also a juvenile club called Name Empowered Talent (NET), which is aimed at empowering young people of the community and nearby villages to achieve spiritual discipline through the study of the word of God.

It also aims at discovering and developing the talents of the youth as children of purpose.

The NET was founded by Prophet Moknajeeba Fiifi Jehu-Appiah, a grandson of the first leader of the church.

Prophet Jehu-Appiah has, since 1999, been an examiner with the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), aside carrying out various researches in religion and other social issues.

The group engages in the development of entrepreneurial skills such as snail rearing, mushroom and vegetable cultivation.

It also undertakes keep-fit programmes, as well as training in public speaking skills and oratory, playing of musical instruments and information and communications technology (ICT).

The Mozano town thrives on its well-heeled educational heritage and the rich traditions of praying for the nation, counselling, healing and deliverance services by its devoted pastors and prophets.
