The beneficiary schools were the Mampong School for the Deaf, Akropong School for the Blind and the Abiriw Presbyterian Junior High School.

A staff of the Nationwide Mutual Healthcare, Mr Okyere Kwasi Ansah,  who made the presentation on behalf of the two philanthropists, said the gesture was to support and equip the three institutions to enable them to discharge their obligations efficiently.

According to him, the beneficiaries were selected after a check conducted revealed that they were in deplorable states.

He said the gesture would be extended to other regions in Ghana, adding “this would go a long way to support the improvement of educational standards in the country.”

The Headmistress of the Mampong School for the Deaf, Mrs Regina Danquah, who received the items on behalf of her school, thanked the two individuals for the gesture and gave the assurance that the items would be used for the intended purpose.

She said since the school was established, efforts had been made to ensure that children received the best of education.

Mrs Danquah identified funding and lack of training equipment and materials as their major needs, and appealed to the society to help give meaning to the lives of persons with disability (PWDs).

She appealed to organisations and philanthropists to come to the aid of the school to continue serving persons with hearing challenges.
