The Training Manager of SMT Ghana, a heavy machinery dealer, Mr Jasper Agbakpe, gave the advice during a training programme for drivers and technicians of Jorbies Limited, a construction company, on how to handle and maintain the latest Volvo FMX 440.

Mr Agbakpe noted that the training is expected to equip the drivers and technicians with essential knowledge about operating and maintaining the all-new Volvo FMX 440 truck.

He explained that the training session was necessary in that the truck was a new machine that had been introduced in the country. “So, for the drivers to handle it well, get the best from it and also know how to manage it, this training has been organised,” he said.

He said SMT Ghana was committed to ensuring that only good quality equipment that had the capacity to help the country to achieve its developmental goals were sold and therefore made it a point to take its customers through such training sessions before handing their purchased trucks to them.

“Before we deliver equipment to our customers, we ensure that their drivers fully know and understand the trucks given to them,” he said, indicating that such a measure helped to enhance the maintenance of the trucks and improved productivity.

For his part, the Managing Director of SMT Ghana, Denis Pylyser, added that the company organised training sessions for its customers “because we are concerned about the satisfaction of our customers and how to handle the quality of products we give them.
