Tijaniya Muslims of Ghana congratulates President-elect

The Tijjaniya Muslims of Ghana (TMG) have congratulated the President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on his election to the high office of President of the Republic of Ghana.

In a statement jointly signed by the Director of Communications, Sheikh Abubakar Marzuq Azindoo, and the Executive Secretary of the TMG, Alhaji Khuzaim M. Osman, the group also congratulated Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the incoming Vice-President  on the victory.

It said the TMG believed that the victory of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was the victory of Ghana’s democracy, the Muslim community and humanity.

The statement expressed the confidence that the experience of Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia in democratic governance and their experience in nation building would help accelerate economic transformation and national development.

“In all democratic societies, governance is a teamwork. We pray that Allah grants the President-elect the wisdom to select a competent team that would raise Ghana to another pedestal of development and prosperity.

“With faith in Allah, we are confident that Ghanaians would move forward as a unified nation with a common destiny in a new era of hope, development, freedom and justice,” it said.

The statement commended Ghanaians for their role in the peaceful conduct of the election, saying “we have demonstrated our commitment to constitutional democracy and good governance.”

“The result of our conduct is a reflection of our readiness to maintain our accolade as a beacon of democracy in the West African subregion.”

The statement lauded President John Dramani Mahama for conceding defeat and opting for a smooth transition of power to a new administration, saying “he is indeed a statesman who respects the sovereign will of the people.’’

GUTA’s message

In a related development, members of the Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) have congratulated Nana Akufo-Addo on his resounding election victory.

A statement signed by the General Secretary of GUTA, Alpha Abdulla Shaban, expressed profound admiration for the high level of maturity, patience, tolerance, perseverance and the exemplary leadership quality that Nana Akufo-Addo exhibited before and during the elections.

The association prays to God to guard and guide him, grant him good health, long life, more courage, knowledge and wisdom to be able to realise his vision.
