Hourly testing of the water from the plant by the company's quality control department showed that the water was not salty.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic in Accra Wednesday, the Public Relations officer of GWCL, Mr Michael Agyeman, said the attributes of the water produced by the plant, according to all the quality control tests, fell within the national standards and there was, therefore, no cause for alarm.

Investigations

The Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Alhaji Collins Dauda ordered the investigation following complaints from some beneficiary communities that the water was salty.

Mr Agyeman said the company was committed to safeguarding the health of its clients by ensuring the provision of clean, safe water .

“We would not compromise on quality at any that the right thing is done always, especially because clients are or will be paying for the services," he added.

Residents confirm water is no more salty

When the Daily Graphic visited the community to verify the state of the water, it established that the water was no more salty as was the complaint by residents last week.

Some residents who spoke on conditions of anonymity said the water was no more salty.

They expressed their gratitude to the ministry and its stakeholders for their efforts to ensure the provision of not just water but safe water for the community.
