The refurbishment, which was done by Tex Styles Ghana, involved the painting of the ward, fixing of broken louvre blades and the replacement of torn mosquito nets.

All the old wooden doors were also replaced with new aluminum and glass doors.

Other refurbishment works included plumbing, replacement of all toilet seats, sink bowls and shower pipes in the bathrooms.

Additionally, the company presented 150 bed sheets and 150 pillow cases to the hospital and installed new window and bed partitioning curtains at the ward.

Commendation

A ceremony to present the refurbished ward and the items to the hospital attracted distinguished personalities such as the Tema Mantse, Nii Adjei Kraku II, and the Metro Director of Health Services, Dr John Yebani,  who all expressed appreciation to Tex Styles Ghana for undertaking the project and for the donation.

The Managing Director of Tex Styles, Mr Kofi  Boateng, said the  project was one of the three flagship corporate social responsibility initiatives the company had embarked upon this year to mark its Golden Jubilee celebrations.

The other two initiatives were the donation of blood by the staff of the company and the formation of a Blood Donors Club (Club 25) to ensure regular supply of blood to the National Blood Bank and the construction of a canteen and toilet facilities for the Tema Community 4 Primary School.

He stated that the refurbishment was to demonstrate the company's deep appreciation to Ghanaians, especially women, for their support for GTP/Woodin over the years.

The Director of the hospital, Dr Kwabena Opoku-Adusei, also thanked Tex Styles for its support, which, according to him, will make a difference in healthcare services at the ward.

Dr Opoku-Adusei indicated that the hospital was the only referral facility in the area catering for over 900,000 inhabitants in Tema and surrounding areas.
