Tarzan files injuction to stop collection of TV licence fee

Plans by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) to collect television licence fees with effect from Saturday, August 1, 2015, has suffered a setback following the filing of a motion for interlocutory injunction against the exercise.

A former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Dr Charles Wereko Brobby, is asking the Fast Track High Court to grant an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the GBC and its agents “from commencing or resuming the collection of TV Licence fees from August 1, 2015 or any date thereafter based on the so-called formula for sharing TV Licence Fees and/or any other formula for sharing same; pending the final determination of this suit.”
