Tamale Metropolitan Assembly clears illegal structures from streets
The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TaMA) on Monday embarked on a decongestion exercise to clear the central business district of illegal structures.

The exercise, which started as early as 5:00am, was led by a task force of security guards from the assembly with support from the military, police and other security agencies.
The taskforce demolished structures on the shoulders of the road and pavements that obstruct pedestrian movement and free flow of vehicular traffic.
The exercise is also to ensure sanity and discipline on the roads in the metropolis.
The last time such an exercise was conducted was in 2009.
Traders
Although the task force was faced with a little resistance from the traders, they managed to carry out the exercise successfully.
Some of the traders told Graphic Online that they were informed about the exercise a week ago, thus they had no alternative than to comply.
