The flood broke into people’s homes, stores and offices, destroying properties and leaving many stranded.

Graphic Online's Western Regional correspondent, Kobla Dotsey Aklorbortu reported that the rains started around 2am.

Areas such as Effia, Round Pavellion (market circle), Mankessim white house, Ntakofo, Bakano and Bakakyir in Sekondi and the new container terminal on the Sekondi Takoradi highway were badly affected.

The OIC was completely submerged and as a result, the students were completely out of school Tuesday morning.

According to our correspondent the flood was mainly due to human activities as a result of building on water ways.

The new Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr Anthony K.K. Sam said houses on waterways would be pulled down.
