‘Support children to develop their talents’

Ghanaian international model, Ms Pearl Amoah, has called on Ghanaian parents to support their children to unearth and develop their talents instead of forcing them to pursue careers they did not have interest in.

The 1996 Miss Universe Ghana beauty queen, who was also crowned Mrs Ghana International in 2015, noted that parents must study their children intently to identify their strength and weakness to help them make a good career choice before they come of age.

The beauty queen who became a model at age 14, gave this advice when she graced the Student Representative Council (SRC) week celebrations of the Methodist Girls High School (MEGHIS) at Mamfe Akuapim in the Eastern Region.

Speaking on the theme: “Transforming generations for nation building,” Ms Amoah noted that gone are the days when medicine and some few courses were regarded as courses that guaranteed success, noting that “now the scope of success has tilted and people such as footballers, models, actors, singers etc are turning into multi-millionaires.”

The brain behind the Pearl Amoah Fashion Show, who also runs an accessory manufacturing company, took the students through ways of discovering one’s talent, etiquettes, nutrition and good morals.

Ms Amoah, who was in 2006 invited by the Harvard Business School as a Fashion Moderator for their annual conference organised by the African Business Club, advised the students to take their studies seriously as they strive to build their talents.

The Headmistress of MEGHIS, Ms Sylvia Isabella Laryea, in her remarks, said that the school, which is now robbing shoulders with the Aburi Girls Senior High School and Wesley Girls Senior High School as the best girls school in Ghana, achieved such feat through hard work built on the principles of discipline.
