Sunyani credit union makes advances

The Membership of the Sunyani Area Teachers Co-operative Credit Union (SATCCU) has grown from 10,030 in 2015 to 12,096 in 2016, posting a growth rate of 21 per cent.

The total share value of the members also increased to GH¢1,399.77 in 2016, as against GH¢830,018.20 recorded in 2015, representing a rise of 69 per cent.

The above statistics were contained in the 2015 annual report of SATCCU which was delivered by the Board Chairman of the Union, Mr Kwabena Adusei, at the 10th annual general meeting (AGM) held in Sunyani. The occasion was on the theme, “The authentic difference”.

Mr Adusei disclosed that GH¢5,977,900 was disbursed as loans to members for agricultural, housing, educational, trading, transport, medical and social purposes during the year under review.

In addition, he said the union’s assets shot up from GH¢12,224,284.58 to GH¢16,094,565.22 during the period.

He said SATCCU was able to distribute 8,000 exercise books and about 8,000 pens to schools in some communities in the Sunyani Municipality, Sunyani West, Asutifi North and South, Tano North, Derma and Techimantia districts.

Mr Adusei thanked all stakeholders who contributed in diverse ways towards the success story of SATCCU and urged them to continue with their support in the coming year.

Special awards were presented to the staff and members of the union who excelled in their performance during the year under review.
