The event will present opportunities for partners in the fight against corruption to engage on further action outlined in the national plan, the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP), and also collaborate effectively in the campaign.

All partners, including the government, state institutions, civil society organisations and development partners, would showcase their efforts in the fight against corruption during the week-long commemoration on the theme: “NACAP: Strengthening public, private and civil society partnerships in the fight against corruption.”

There will be fairs, talk shows in the media, film shows on the issue for the youth and exhibitions.

A Deputy Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Rev. Richard Quayson, in an interview with the Daily Graphic, said the conference had received the enthusiastic support of all partners who were working together to commemorate a nationwide anti-corruption week.

He said NACAP was helping all partners to align efforts and plans in a concerted drive to stem corruption in the country.

Programme

The week-long commemoration will be used to discuss the 2016 NACAP implementation report and facilitate continuous dialogue.

It will also be used to raise awareness of the NACAP, while sensitising the public to the second cycle of review of the implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).

National and regional programmes would be organised during the week to sensitise, educate and dialogue on pertinent issues in the campaign against corruption.

Partners would organise conferences, dialogues, youth programmes on corruption and other activities to raise awareness.

Rev. Quayson said the mobilisation of state institutions, civil society organisations and development partners around NACAP was encouraging and added that that would give the plan the needed push in its implementation programmes.

Partners

Partners collaborating on the programme include the Government of Ghana, and the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), which is made up of CHRAJ, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), the Private Enterprises Foundation (PEF), the Ghana Integrity Initiative, the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) Ghana, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the Ghana Conference of Religions for Peace (GCRP).
