Staff who assaulted suspected swindler were sanctioned - uniBank

A viral video which shows staff of uniBank assaulting a suspected swindler is from an incident that happened two years ago, the bank has explained.

Management of the bank in a statement on Thursday June 15, 2017 said staff involved in the act were severely sanctioned while the swindler was handed over to the police for prosecution.

"We wish to inform the general public and our loyal customers that this was an incident which took place over two years ago and the bank does not in any way condone, endorse or support the administration of such an action", the statement said.

However, the statement did not disclose which type of sanctions were meted out to the staff who were captured slapping the suspected swindler in the presence of a Police officer.

The video has resurfaced at a time there was an ongoing national debate on instant justice through mob action following the gruesome murder of Major Maxwell Adam Mahama.

Our attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media concerning the heckling of a swindler, who was arrested at one of our branches.

We wish to inform the general public and our loyal customers that this was an incident which took place over two years ago and the bank does not in any way condone, endorse or support the administration of such an action.

The actions of the individuals as reflected in the video, does not represent the values of the bank.

Staff involved in the act, have been severely sanctioned, while the swindler was handed over to the police for prosecution.

We sincerely wish to assure the general public that uniBank abhors such an action and is very keen in safe-guarding our customers’ interest.
