St John the Evangelist Catholic Church gets parish council
A new Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) for the St John the Evangelist Catholic Church at the Adentan Estates in Accra has been inaugurated. The 25-member council, chaired by Nana Kwaku Opon Tutu, has the mandate of overseeing the smooth running of the parish with the express supervision of the Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr John Mensah, who is also the President of the council.

Very Rev. Fr Mensah was assisted by the immediate past Chairman of the PPC, Mr Charles Nuoriyee, and the current Vice Chairperson of the PPC, Mrs Angella Tettey, to install Nana Opon Tutu.
Farewell message
Giving a farewell message, Mr Nuoriyee thanked the parishioners for the support given him and his administration; and expressed his conviction that they would extend the same support to the incoming administration.
He told Nana Opon Tutu that the task was for him to continue from where the previous administration left off, stressing that Nana Opon Tutu was not a new person in the parish, and wished him the best of luck.
Acceptance message
Accepting the task ahead of him, Nana Opon Tutu said it was an honour to be given the privilege to serve the church in the capacity of a PPC Chair.
He acknowledged that the parish had grown over the years to be a big family and, therefore, required a concerted effort by all to ensure the forward march of the parish.
Nana Opon Tutu thanked past PPCs, the entire parishioners, as well as members of the PPC for electing him as chairman, and appealed to all to join him to build on what the previous PPCs had done.
He pledged to work hard with his administration to serve the parishioners as their representative.
Homily
In his homily, Very Rev. Mensah urged Christians to be the “light and salt” wherever they found themselves by impacting positively on society.
“Be the light and the salt at your workplaces, your homes and wherever you find yourselves,” he told the parishioners.
