Sod cut for work to begin on $18m JUSAG complex
The sod has been cut for the commencement of work on a multi-functional complex for the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) at Abokobi in the Ga East Municipality.

The project, which is expected to be completed in 2020, will have facilities such as a conference hall with a 1,800 seating capacity, an eight-storey hostel with 120 rooms, a three-bedroom house, a seven-storey office complex and a restaurant, among other facilities.
The Judicial Secretary, Mr Justice Alex B. Poku-Acheampong, officially cut the sod yesterday for work to begin.
Present at the ceremony were the Chief Justice, Ms Justice Sophia Akuffo, some staff members of the Judicial Service, executive members of JUSAG and chiefs of Abokobi.
Purpose
The President of JUSAG, Mr Alex Nartey, said the project was expected to cost between $18 and $19 million and was being wholly funded by the association.
He said the project had been on the drawing board for the past 20 years and it was, therefore, a great achievement for it to finally become a reality.
Mr Nartey said JUSAG was not only interested in the effective and efficient delivery of justice in the country, but was also in the business of seeking the welfare of its members.
JUSAG, he explained, intended to rent the facility out to organisations and individuals to hold conferences and other social engagements while the association also used it as its offices and for other activities.
“As an association, we will continue to invest in activities and projects that will inure to the economic and social benefits of our members. We, therefore, thank past executives of JUSAG for acquiring the land for the project,” he said.
Commendation
In her address, Justice Akuffo commended JUSAG for undertaking the project and urged it to replicate similar projects in other regions to reap more economic gains for the association.
“I commend the current executive members of JUSAG for keeping the dream which was started by previous executives,’’ she said.
Justice Akuffo also called on the project contactors, Greencity Housing Project Limited and Wilkins Engineering Limited, to do well to complete the project in line with its specification and within the stipulated period.
A representative of Greencity Housing Project Limited, Mr Boaz Boamponsem, expressed the company’s appreciation to JUSAG for awarding it the contract for the project.
