Paddies is a group made up of friends across various professional backgrounds with a passion to network and provide social interventions that impact communities through optimisation of education, health and wellness.

Led by Mr Franklin Sown (President), its members include Semira Anku, Vice-President;  IMANI Ghana’s Franklin Cudjoe, Mr Kwame Sefa Kayi of Peace FM; Mr George Andah and Dr Prince Pambo, a sports medicine specialist.

At the Koteiman community outreach saw the group donated items such as toiletries, clothes, shoes, food items and drinks. They also presented drugs to the community clinic.

The over 100 residents were screened for diabetes and high blood pressure.

The group also seized the opportunity to inaugurate two jumbo-size water tanks it previously donated to the community to alleviate water shortage at the community clinic and in the town.

As part of the month-long anniversary celebrations, Paddies, in partnership with the World Bank, Accra Office, also organised a lecture on the theme: “Education Sector in Ghana – Past, Present & Future, and Benchmarking against Global Standard” in Accra, which attracted a seasoned educationist, Mr Anis Haffar, as the guest speaker and a Deputy Minister of Education, Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa, as guest of honour.

The group’s Communication Committee Chairman, Mr Frank Kofi Ayivor, told the Daily Graphic that Paddies, which started on social media, now boasts membership in excess of 50 people and funds its activities mainly with contributions from members.

He also said the aim of the group was to voluntarily bring their resources together to positively impact the lives of people in various deprived communities.

“We were touched by the plight of the people of Koteiman, who lacked good drinking water and some basic amenities, hence our decision to come to their aid,” he said.

The donation and health screening was supported by PZ Cussons, Kinapharma Ghana Limited, Unicorn Travels and Coca Cola Bottling (Gh) Limited.

The vision of the group is to extend its outreach activities nationwide.

The Chief of Koteiman, Nii Kotei Brempong IV and his elders, thanked Paddies for the kind gesture.
