At the quadrennial session held at Ntonso in the Kwabre East District in the Ashanti Region, the CGC also nominated departmental directors, members of the executive committee and  trustees.

The six-day session was on the theme: "Reach the world" to help charge the new officers to lead the congregations to preach the gospel to the entire world.”

The team of officers is led by Pastor Yaw Asamoah Kwarteng, President; Pastor Kofi Gyimah Yamoah, executive secretary, and Pastor Joseph Opoku-Acheampong, treasurer.

They will work with seven departmental directors, 21 members of the executive committee and three trustees.

Integrity

A former Executive Secretary of the General Conference of the SDA, headquarters of the worldwide Church in the United States, Pastor M.A. Bediako, emphasised the need for the leaders of the CGC to protect their integrity by being firm in the discharge of their respective duties.

According to him, leadership came with responsibility and required sacrifice for which reason the new crop of leaders ought to live above reproach.

"Be firm and do not be afraid to do the right thing in the midst of the daunting challenges that would come your way," he advised.

Pastor Bediako took the sermon from Genesis 39:9-10 and urged the leaders to let the good example of Joseph (his imprisonment and subsequent triumph) guide them in the discharge of their duties.

He further emphasised that love and forgiveness were virtues that God expected from human beings, for which reason it was incumbent on all to learn to forgive those who wronged them.

"There is the need to cultivate a forgiving spirit among you even though you are pastors of the church; as humans as you may step on one another’s toes," he reiterated, describing the act of forgivingness as "the most difficult law" in Christendom.

Commitment

For his part, Pastor Kwarteng pledged the commitment of the new officers to work together for the collective good of the Church and society.

“We will allow the spirit of togetherness to lead us as we work to promote development programmes and evangelism,” he assured.

He also called on the various congregations within the Church to support the new officers in the discharge of their duties.
