Samara Company GM wins Feminine Ghana Achievement Award

The General Manager of Samara Company Limited, Mrs Eunice Ankoma Apraku Antwi, has won the ‘Most Outstanding Executive in Household Products’ at the Feminine Ghana Achievement Award held in Accra recently.

The award, organised by the Business Executive Magazine, was instituted to publicly acknowledge and reward women who have demonstrated self -confidence, professionalism, dedication and a sense of responsibility in their positions to motivate them to keep up with their exemplary leadership. 

Mrs Antwi’s award was for her valuable contribution to making Sasso a top insecticide brand in Ghana.

Other recipients

Twenty-five other women, comprising  entrepreneurs, professionals, corporate executives, public institutional managers, diplomats, sportswomen and female traditional rulers were honoured at the awards ceremony which was the second edition since its inception.

In attendance were high-profile female dignitaries, including the Zimbabwean Ambassador to Ghana, Mrs Pavelyn Tendal Musaka, the Colombian Ambassador to Ghana, Mrs Claudia Turbay Quintero, the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, Nesrin Bayazit, the Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, Maria Alonso and the Czech Ambassador to Ghana, Margita Fuchsova, as well as representatives from the government.

The citation  accompanying  Mrs Antwi’s award  read, “As the General Manager of Samara Group, you have played a key role in the huge success of the Sasso brand of insecticide spray and mosquito coil on the Ghanaian market. Your resourcefulness, dedication and sense of responsibility have been invaluable in building one of the best known home-grown Ghanaian product brands today, and this has made you a role model for rising female executives in the manufacturing sector all around the country.”

Appreciation

Speaking to the Daily Graphic later, Mrs Antwi expressed her appreciation to  the Business Executive Magazine for acknowledging and rewarding her effort in the manufacturing sector saying, it was a great honour for her.

“This award has come as a surprise to me. This attests to the fact that I am doing well in this sector. This is a great honour to me. I thank God for making this possible and also to the Executive Chairman of Samara Company, Dr Sampson Effah Apraku, for giving me the opportunity to give my best,” she stated.

Mrs Antwi described her role as General Manager of the Ghanaian firm as very challenging, but said it had been successful, owing to the immense contribution by the entire Samara Company team, both management and staff. She therefore dedicated the award to them.

“I dedicate this award to my entire team – both management and staff of Samara Company – whose hard work has played a part in this acknowledgment; I am more determined to balance my interpersonal and decisional role effectively to ensure that Sasso remains the number one brand in Ghana and also becomes a sought-after brand in Africa,” an elated Mrs Antwi stated.

She further encouraged her colleague women in the manufacturing sector, as well as all Ghanaian women,  to cultivate the spirit of empowering one another to bring out the best in them.

Mrs Antwi holds a Master’s degree in International Finance from Stafforshire University in the UK after obtaining a degree in Marketing from the Central University in Ghana.
