Saham Life Insurance hands over TV room to KTU

As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Saham Life Insurance Ghana Limited has renovated and handed over a TV room to the Kumasi Technical University (KTU) at a cost of GH¢ 50,000.

The facility

The TV room, dubbed “The Pitch”, is a 250-sitting capacity auditorium with a light-emitting diode (LED) flat screen television to serve as a learning and recreational centre for the university.
Beyond playing a crucial role in imparting knowledge to students, the facility is also to help prevent students from going outside campus to watch TV programmes, including football matches.

Branches

The Saham Life Insurance Ghana Limited is an insurance group operating in about 28 African countries, including Ghana, with its headquarters in Morocco.

It also has offices in Asia, Middle East and Europe.

The group has both life and general insurance policies and also offers innovative “society first” solutions to all insurance needs.

CEO

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Saham Life Ghana Limited, Mrs Gifty Alabi-Fiagbe, said the gesture was to help bring the university up to speed in disseminating information electronically.

Request

The renovation follows a request by the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the university.

“This facility is a proof of the Saham Group’s commitment to give back to its partners and all stakeholders who believe in its brand,” the CEO said.

Products

Mrs Alabi-Fiagbe announced a number of tailor-made products the company would introduce to secure the future of the youth, including that of students.

She called for proper maintenance of the facility in order to encourage the company to do more for the university.

Acting VC

The acting Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university, Professor Asiamah Yeboah, commended the company for its support to the school over the period.

He called for greater collaboration between the two to expand the frontiers of the university and produce competent graduates to solve the country’s socio-economic challenges.

SRC president

The outgoing SRC President, Mr Eugene Prempeh, who led his team to solicit support expressed appreciation to the company and called for more support.
