This is expected to bring the needed development transformation that will increase the income levels of the people and also accelerate the development of the Northern Savana Ecological Zone (NSEZ).

To achieve this, the SADA Board has begun re-strategising processes that will transform the authority into a first-class public sector institution which will be accountable, transparent and effective in its delivery.

The Board Chairman of SADA, Naba Sigri Bewong, made this known at the media launch of an international investment and business meeting dubbed the SADA Business and Investment Forum (SABIF) 2015, in Tamale.

The launch brought together journalists working within the SADA ecological zone, comprising the Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Brong Ahafo and Volta regions.

The forum

The forum formed part of this year's Engineering Week celebration of the Ghana Institute of Engineers (GhIE) which will be held at the Tamale Sports Stadium from March 24 to 28.

It is on the theme: “Engineering opportunities and shared prosperity in the Savannah Region of Ghana".

SABIF is designed to fast-track the northern belt into an era of unprecedented growth.

It will bring together international and local investors, as well as key stakeholders, and is expected to nurture home-grown investment opportunities such as agriculture, agro-business and infrastructure.

Naba Bewong, who is also the President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, said the total transformation of the NSEZ depended on increased investment in the region that would create opportunities for people to move away from peasant agriculture to modernised commercial agriculture, processing, packaging and manufacturing.

Innovations

SADA is collaborating with the GhIE to apply engineering expertise to spearhead integrated, sustainable and rapid infrastructural development.

The Chief Executive Officer of SADA, Dr Charles Abugre, described SABIF as a unique promotional and transactional event meant to unlock potential and promote multi-stakeholder investment policy dialogue and business-matching opportunities with clear outcomes which would inure to the benefit of the people and the nation at large.

The Programmes Director of SADA,  Dr Emmanuel Abeere-Inga, said the re-branding of SADA had been accepted by donor partners, who were supporting its sustainability.

Deputy Minister

The Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, in his address, observed that “SADA has come to stay to bridge the development gap between the south and the north”.
