The storm destroyed 150 houses, while 15 high tension poles and some economic trees were also pulled down. There was no casualty.

Communities

The affected communities are Sapeilga, Komakasoogo, Teshie, Tamsoogo, Tubougo, Binaba, Zongoire and Kukurizoa, where the roof of a four-classroom block of the basic and junior high school was ripped off.

The Bawku West District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr Moses Aduk-Pam, who made this known to the Daily Graphic, said the affected people were staying with relatives and friends.

Appeal

Mr Aduk-Pam entreated non-governmental organisations and development partners to complement the government's efforts to bring relief to the affected.

He commended the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for supporting communities living along the White Volta last year and expressed the hope that they would do the same this year.
