Professionals for Change donates to Accra Psychiatric hospital

The Professionals for Change group affiliated to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has donated a number of items to the Accra Psychiatric hospital to support with the upkeep of inmates.

The items were presented to the hospital on May Day.

The group also embarked on a clean-up exercise at the premises of the hospital.

The items donated included bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, fruits and vegetables, detergents and an amount of money.

Presenting the items, Secretary of the group, Amma Frimpomaa explained that the group chose the Accra Psychiatric hospital because it's one of the under-resourced health care facilities in the country.

Mr Emmanuel Pappoe, a deputy director of nursing at the hospital received the items on behalf of the inmates.

A coordinator of the group, Mr Kofi Ofosu emphasised the importance of assisting mental health facilities because of the neglect the sector over the years.
