The bus, already registered in the name of the school, was presented on behalf of the President by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole-Bamboi, Mr James Jaaga, in Bole last Sunday.

It was in fulfilment of President Mahama’s earlier promise to the school following a request by the Bolewura, A.J. Mahama Awuladesey Pontinpro II, during a visit by the President to his palace.

According to Takalipewura Nyadia who represented the Bole Naa at the ceremony, the chief had raised concerns about the limitations imposed on the school by the lack of a means of transport to enable staff and students to apply themselves more effectively to their respective duties. He said the President’s assurance was taken very seriously but the timely delivery of the vehicle had made them even happier.

Gratitude

He expressed the gratitude of the Bole Traditional Council for the establishment of the Nursing Training College, stressing that it had impacted on both the image and economic activities in the town.

The parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress for the area, Alhaji Yusif Suleman, said the delivery of the bus affirmed the President’s integrity.

He said President Mahama, a native of Bole and four-term Member of Parliament for the area, had demonstrated enough competence in the management of the state through the numerous infrastructural developments the government had undertaken.

School project

The DCE for Bole said work on a permanent school structure and staff accommodation for the college was nearing completion.

He praised the school authorities for defying the humble circumstances of the school by nurturing it into its fourth year, having supervised three graduations already.

The Principal of the school, Madam Christina Terbobri, thanked the traditional authority for its continuous support to the school.

Background

The Bole Nursing Training School was established in 2012 and currently has a student population of 412.

It currently runs certificate and diploma courses, with a midwifery programme scheduled to start in 2017, according to the principal.
