President’s mum buried

Hajia Abiba Nnaba, the mother of President John Dramani Mahama, was yesterday laid to rest at her private residence at Busunu in the West Gonja District in the Northern Region.

The casket containing the body of Hajia Nnaba was flown from Accra to Busunu on board a Ghana Air Force helicopter and was received by the chiefs and elders of the town for the pre-burial ceremony. 

Burial

She was buried after special prayers led by some Islamic clerics. 

President Mahama was joined by a host of his ministers, members of the Council of State and the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Doe Adjaho, to pay their last respects.

Among the large number of mourners were the General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC),  Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah; metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives, the Queen Mothers Association of the Brong Ahafo Region and members of the creative arts industry.

Hajia Nnaba passed on last Tuesday at the Trust Hospital in Accra.
