President Akufo-Addo at UN General Assembly

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo last Thursday delivered his maiden address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at its headquarters in New York ,USA.

The president who is leading a strong government delegation at another engagement during the week delivered a speech on the theme: “Africa Beyond Aid”, at the fifth Annual International Conference on Sustainable Development, at the Earth Institute, Columbia University in New York.

On Wednesday, President Akufo-Addo, together with eight other African Heads of State, at the side-lines of the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, held talks with the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, on US-African relations.

On Tuesday, he received the National Achievement Award, on behalf of the people of Ghana, at an event organised by the Africa-America Institute.

The First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, who is accompanying the president also participated in a high-level meeting of the Organisation of African First Ladies Against Aids/HIV (OAFLA) taking place in New York on the sidelines of the 72nd UN General Assembly.

Other members of the presidents's delegation are the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, and the Minister for Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ms Otiko Afisa Djaba; Deputy Minister for Energy, Ms Mohammed Amin Adam; and some officials from the Presidency.
