Suicide attempts

A source at the Cape Coast Regional Police Command told the Daily Graphic that Augustina had been brought to the police station after a concerned citizen had found her stepping in front of moving vehicles intentionally in a suicide attempt around the Pedu Junction.

The concerned citizen, who observed Augustina from a distance before intervening, transported the woman and her child in a taxi to the police station.

A family member was then contacted to take her home. Thereafter, Augustina managed to run into the sea around the St Augustine’s College and drowned.

Depression

Sources at the Central Health Directorate in Cape Coast where she worked said Augustina had suffered from depression as a result of marital issues.

They told the Daily Graphic that Augustina had confided in some colleagues about her alleged marital problem which she said was a source of worry to her.

“She could hardly do anything at work and this was even reported to her employers” a source said. Augustine has since been buried.
