A former Miss Ghana and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ledzokuku Constituency, Mrs Benita Sena Okity-Duah, has called on upcoming beauty queens to venture into politics in order to serve their various communities.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Mrs Okity-Duah noted that beauty queens can use their political roles to explore various social interventions in the country which could help in nation building.

The legislator won the Miss Ghana Beauty Pageant in 1997 and began her journey into politics as the Women Organiser for the Ledzokuku Constituency for the NDC before winning the 2012 Parliamentary elections after beating Mrs Gladys Norley Ashitey of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Talking about her decision to enter into politics, Mrs Okity-Duah explained that it has always been his dream of serving her community as she was born into a political home.

"I will urge upcoming beauty queens to take up political roles to help them achieve their aim of helping shape their communities", she said.

"I think venturing into politics can help them with their social interventions in the communities and that could help them achieve most of their developmental projects," she added.
