Police to investigate flogging at Obinim's church
The Police has said it will look into the matter of the founder of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, flogging two youngsters with a belt during a church service for alleged fornication and abortion.

According to the Director of Police Public Affairs, Superintendent Cephas Arthur, although he was yet to see the video, the police had taken notice of complaints from members of the public.
He said per the reports, such an action constituted an abuse of the youngsters’ rights and that if proven, the appropriate unit of the Police Service would take the matter up for further investigations.
Superintendent Arthur who was speaking to Accra based radio station Citi FM said, “I haven’t spotted such a video, but if there is such a video in circulation then it borders on human rights issues and the appropriate authorities will take action”.
“We are in a democratic dispensation. If it’s for the purposes of religion, that one will also be investigated. It will also be by the appropriate authorities and I hope the right things will be done to ensure that human dignity is restored. When I say appropriate institutions, we have DOVVSU, anti-human trafficking unit and we have other units so let us see it first. For all you know, some station or division of the police has seen it already and perhaps they are working on it.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson of the church, Mr Osei Oppong-Brenya has justified the flogging of the two.
According to him, the two were adopted children of Bishop Obinim and confirmed the incident indeed happened in church on Wednesday.
He said the youngman was known as Illiasu, a student whilst the young lady was Gyasiwaa, who was learning to become a beautician.
He said during ‘prophesy time’ in church on Wednesday, Bishop Obinim called the two and said God had revealed to him that Illiasu had impregnated Gyasiwaa and they have terminated the pregnancy, an act he sees as wrong and should not be entertained.
